UNON,? Division of Conference Services at the Nairobi duty station.?Responsibilities?Under the supervision of the Chief of Chinese Language Unit, the incumbent will perform the following:?
1.Translates and revises documents from two other UN official languages than English into the language of the Unit texts including summary records covering a broad range of subjects dealt with by the United Nations.?
2.Attends meetings as part of a team, takes notes either directly from statements delivered in the languages of competence or from the interpretation and subsequently uses the notes to produce draft summary records, subject to revision.?
3.Identifies new terminology material and submits it for consideration of the revisers.?
4.Counsels in-house and contractual translators with a view of refining skills and performance and solving particularly difficult problems which require specialized knowledge, linguistic insight and political judgement and helps maintain uniformity of terminology in the unit.?
5.Performs other related duties as required.
