Notre Dame Football Recruiting: Brian Kelly Key in Landing Sebastian LaRue

After decommitting from USC this month, 4-star receiver Sebastian LaRue is a hot item before recruits sign on Feb. 6.

And Brian Kelly may just be the key for Notre Dame to land the talented Santa Monica native.

LaRue, the No. 9 receiver in the 2013 class according to ESPN, tweeted on Wednesday:

?

The tweet came after head coach Chip Kelly decided to spurn Oregon for the Philadelphia Eagles.

LaRue also recently made some interesting comments, via the Los Angeles Times: "I feel some things should be more up front. It's like a poker game. Everybody is trying to match everyone's move and bluff."

This is where the Fighting Irish's coach comes in. LaRue was obviously rubbed the wrong way by the decision by the former Oregon coach. He appears to have learned a lot about the recruiting process in the last few months, and honed in on his priorities along the way.

In short, it appears as if LaRue is looking for stability first and foremost. What could be more stable than a program that just went to the BCS National Championship Game and kept its coach in the process?

It's still anyone's guess where LaRue will land, but Kelly's decision to stay at Notre Dame certainly can't hurt the program's chances. LaRue visits Notre Dame next week after visiting Texas A&M. He may visit more schools after that before signing day.?

I would guess that LaRue likes what he sees from Notre Dame. Although, that doesn't mean he won't like Texas A&M, either. The prospect of Heisman winner Johnny Manziel tossing him the ball has to appeal to him.

In that respect, if LaRue is simply looking for the best quarterback, then the Aggies would appear to be an appropriate team for him to join.

But Kelly and the Fighting Irish can convince him to say with a straightforward approach. No games. Talk to him like he would be joining a program that not only made it to the national title game this past season, but intends on making it there next season and beyond.

Notre Dame currently has the No. 3 recruiting class, according to ESPN. Landing LaRue would be yet another addition to the fine work Kelly and company have done.
